Puerto Rico Solid Waste Strategy
The integrated solid waste management options outlined in this document were formulated as a result of an intensive and collaborative citizen participation process started in the spring of 2010 through the Puerto Rico Recycling Partnership (PRRP). This March 2013 update includes input from nearly three years of PRRP meetings, meetings of a variety of PRRP teams, and other stakeholder comments offered through that period. The overall goal of this process was to develop a Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) program for Puerto Rico that will help solve the solid waste crisis, while working to enhance Puerto Rico's economy.
