About us
In 2010, US-EPA established the Puerto Rico Recycling Association in collaboration with the Solid Waste Authority and the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board. The main goal of the Association is to establish comprehensive waste reduction, composting and recycling programs throughout Puerto Rico. We have over 500 members, from the public sector, non-governmental organizations, community groups, professionals, academics and the private sector focused on collaborating towards the implementation of best practices for Sustainable Materials Management (SMM).
To accelerate the adoption of sustainable materials management (SMM) options and to encourage more local ownership of the PRRP, efforts are organized around eight core teams focused primarily on commodities (specific components of the discard stream in Puerto Rico). Please visit the team webpages for more information, or for information on how to join a team.
